The after-wedding session with lovely couple Jenn & Brendan was our second last outdoor event in 2020. Jenn & Brendan wished for a session in the winter scenery, and as we all live so close to the Rocky Mountains, we had a huge selection of locations with a beautiful winter background. After briefly considering it, we decided that Bow Lake in Banff National Park would be the best option.
We met in Lake Louise, and after a little chat, we all headed to the location. One of the main reasons we have chosen Bow Lake was that the hotel located right by the lake is shut down for the winter season, and we knew that we would not meet a crowd. A few days before the session, we had a little snowstorm in the area, and we expected lots of snow. And we were right! Believe it or not, but we brought a snow shovel, just if one of us would get stuck in deep snow. Fortunately, we did not have to use it, but there was one pretty close call 🤣
We started walking to the lake, passing cross country skiers who congratulated the newlyweds. After approximately 10 minutes of walking, we reached our destination, a small wooden bridge, and we started to turn our ideas into reality.
We were delighted and positively surprised by the lighting conditions that day. A few clouds and the sun’s rays penetrating these clouds created a unique scenery. The combination of ambient light and off-camera flash made a very successful session.
After about 45 minutes, we headed back to the parking lot. We are pretty sure we all were thinking about hot coffee from Tim’s on the way back. Only one thing we have not done right -we did not take a selfie together, but the summer hiking season is coming, and we are optimistic that we will have a chance to fix that mistake.
Thank you, Jenn & Brendan
